Dr. Ishnella Kaur Azad, M.D.

Ishnella’s journey from medicine to commercial real estate is a compelling narrative of resilience and entrepreneurial vision. Growing up in a family of real estate investors, she blended her academic pursuits—earning three honors Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Houston—with her father’s business acumen to co founding a commercial real estate company during college. As a hard worker she won the USA national work study award for working during medical school for 3 years in a row as a counselor to traumatized women and children. After completing her medical degree education in Psychiatry at prestigious institutions like Baylor Med and UCLA, Ishnella pivoted to focus entirely on expanding the real estate business. Through word-of-mouth and satisfied clients, she and her father grew their portfolio to $750 million in assets and over 5 million square feet of gross leasable area. She currently serves as a managing member of the 5Rivers family office,

In addition to her real estate success, Ishnella has shown an interest in tech for the last decade with investing in ASIKs and a Bitcoin mining facility in Houston for several years and then transferring that interest into Data Centers as commercial real estate and co-founding Data Journey as a female owned minority owned business to owner operate 3 data centers in North Carolina and Texas. She then realized that energy is the key piece to to data centers not taking from the residents around her data center campuses and has created a mobile energy site generation company with Nat Gas gen turbines in her latest endeavor of an Energy company. She become a key player in the tech space as the founder of Data Journey and Data Journey Capital. Her interest in technology, particularly the intersection with commercial real estate, has led her to invest in innovative solutions like Chillirack, a technology that reduces data center energy usage by half and doubles rentable space without additional infrastructure costs.

Beyond her business ventures, Ishnella serves on various boards, including as a financial advisor for United Sikhs and on the executive board of her Sikh church, and on the tech startup she helped fund and sits on its board and the board of Chillirack technology. As a female minority amputee, she brings a unique perspective to her roles, continuously seeking growth through mentorship and community involvement.
