Charles McPherson

Charles McPherson has worked with computer systems, networking and operations support for over 20 years. He has managed people and works to understand what drives productivity through teamwork, dedication and commitment. In his current role he is part of the Data Center Systems and Facility Operations Team at the Catawba Data Center in North Carolina. Below are some of his roles and responsibilities.

He monitors and maintains the health of the data center, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This includes performing routine maintenance tasks such as server updates, patch management, and hardware replacements to keep systems running smoothly. He also works closely with Internet Service Providers to secure internet services and ensure reliable connectivity for client access to the facility. In addition, he implements and enforces strict data center security protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards to safeguard sensitive information. He documents operational processes and procedures to streamline data center operations and improve system efficiency. He actively monitors the Building Management System (BMS) data center facility monitoring tool to track environmental conditions and system status. When needed, he manages Remote Hands support and troubleshoots issues for data center client systems, providing timely solutions to technical problems. He also handles cabling and patching configurations for data center infrastructure projects, ensuring proper setup and connectivity. Finally, he collaborates with data center clients to coordinate system maintenance according to site policies and procedures, minimizing disruption to their operations.
